On 18 September 2026, as part of European Mobility Week, Politecnico di Milano is organising the event Electric mobility and road safety: challenges and prospects for sustainable mobility, dedicated to exploring the role of electric mobility in the transition towards safer, more efficient transport systems with a lower environmental impact.
The initiative will take place in the Aula Magna of the Rectorate building (building 1) and will provide an opportunity for discussion among academic experts, representatives from associations and first-hand accounts from people who use electric/hybrid vehicles on a daily basis.
The programme will address several aspects of electric mobility and road safety: from the actions promoted by Politecnico di Milano to encourage more sustainable and safer mobility, including the development of charging infrastructure at the University, to the analysis of road accidents in areas close to the campuses and the global and local environmental impacts of electric cars. The event will also offer insights into choosing the electric vehicle best suited to different needs and into the integration of bicycles, electric assistance and rail transport.
Mario Grosso, Delegate for Environmental Protection and the Circular Economy at Politecnico di Milano will open the workshop. After, will follow a presentation by Eleonora Perotto, Mobility Manager and Head of the Environmental Sustainability Unit, dedicated to the actions undertaken by Politecnico di Milano to promote electric mobility and road safety.
Speakers will also include Filippo Bovera, Energy Manager at Politecnico di Milano, with a contribution on flexibility in the development of charging infrastructure at the University; Fabio Manfredini, Head of the Mapping and Urban Data Lab, with an analysis of road accidents around the Politecnico campuses; Mario Grosso, with an in-depth look at the global and local impacts of electric cars; Luca Dal Sillaro, co-founder of Ecoverso, with guidance on how to choose the electric car best suited to one’s needs; and professor Lorenzo Pagliano – DAStU Department of Politecnico di Milano – on the combined role of muscular and electric bicycle propulsion and integration with trains.
The morning will conclude with a session dedicated to sharing insights and reflections on driving electric vehicles, with the participation of Mario Brignone and Eugenio Patierno from Ecoverso and, for Politecnico di Milano, Angelo Boceda, Claudio Del Pero, Lorenza Draghi, Chiara Esposito, Roberto Faranda, Michela Longo, Alessandro Mandelli, Lorenzo Pagliano and Roberto Resmimi.
It will also be possible to view a range of electric mobility vehicles and means of transport: Citroën Ami, Desner A05, Hyundai Inster, Hyundai Kona, Mercedes GLA 250e, Mini Cooper, Peugeot 2008, Tesla Model 3, Toyota Yaris Hybrid, a Brompton electric bike and electric scooters.
