The University for SDGs Association is organizing for Tuesday, June 9, 2026 the forum “Smart cities: design, sustainability and innovation“, as part of the New European Bauhaus Festival at Palazzo Lombardia (Belvedere Berlusconi, Piazza Città di Lombardia, 1 – Milan), from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM – in collaboration with Echoes Cooperation and the Lombardy Region.
The forum – which also has the patronage of Politecnico di Milano – is dedicated to the dialogue between design, sustainability and innovation to rethink future urban development models, to promote a vision capable of connecting sustainable mobility, architecture, territorial regeneration and enhancement of rural areas, with the goal of building more inclusive cities oriented toward collective well-being.
The forum is structured in 4 panels:
Panel 1 – Investing in change: sustainable finance and urban regeneration;
Panel 2 – Who inhabits the future? The delicate balance between humans and nature;
Panel 3 – Rethinking cities: urban planning for an accessible and mobile future;
Panel 4 – Fueling tomorrow: energy and innovation.
For Politecnico di Milano, three speakers will contribute to the discussion: Prof. Eugenio Morello (panel 2), Dr. Eleonora Perotto (panel 3), and Eng. Filippo Bovera (panel 4).
At the end of the event, a Report will be prepared and shared with the main stakeholders, summarizing the contributions from researchers, public institutions and private operators participating in the initiative. The document will include a systematic mapping of good practices identified during the discussion panels and a structured body of policy recommendations for governing urban transition in Lombardy and throughout the country.
