The experimental project for the implementation of the organic waste collection aims to raise awareness within the Politecnico community – which is heterogeneous in composition (students, professors, administrative and technical staff, PhD students, research fellows, etc.) – regarding the increasingly important issue of waste sorting.
The project currently involves departmental spaces and areas near break zones and microwave stations, with a total of 26 containers at the two Milan campuses of Politecnico (9 in Città Studi and 17 in the Bovisa Campus). The containers are easily identifiable and are equipped with specific signage that informs users on how to correctly dispose of waste, aligning with the sorting practices already in place at the university’s cafeterias and bars.
