Take part in the collection of used glasses from 6 to 10 October 2025

On the occasion of World Sight Day, celebrated on 9 October 2025, the Politecnico di Milano is promoting a week-long collection of used eyeglasses for the Italian Lions Centre for the Collection of Used Eyeglasses, an organisation with extensive experience in the collection and distribution of eyeglasses for charitable purposes.
The initiative will take place from 6 to 10 October 2025 at the main reception desks of the University and combines solidarity, offering many people the opportunity to improve their eyesight thanks to otherwise inaccessible treatment and prevention tools, with care for the environment.
The glasses collected will be donated to people with limited financial means, residing in Italy and abroad, and distributed free of charge following a medical examination.

What type of glasses can be donated?
Glasses for adults and children, both men’s and women’s, mainly prescription glasses, but also sunglasses, with or without prescription, with their cases or loose.
The collected items will then be sent to the headquarters of the Lions Centre in Chivasso (Turin), where volunteers will check and verify them before distribution.
The collection boxes are located at the reception desks of the following buildings on the Politecnico’s two Milan campuses:
