The event will provide an opportunity for dialogue and discussion among various stakeholders regarding slow mobility. It is scheduled as part of SUI 2025 by DAStU, Politecnico di Milano, with participation of the University mobility manager.

From June 18-20, 2025, the XXVII conference of the Italian Society of Urban Planners (SUI) will take place under the theme “Publicness: the challenges of the public dimension in cities and territories.” The conference is organized by the Italian Society of Urban Planners in collaboration with the Departments of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU), Architecture, Construction Engineering and the Built Environment (ABC) at the Politecnico di Milano, and CRAFT – Competence Center Anti Fragile Territories (DAStU).

Within this conference, a talk on “Slow Mobility: critical issues and ongoing projects” will be held on the afternoon of June 18. This event is organized by Paolo Bozzuto and his research group (Emilio Guastamacchia, Fabio Manfredini, and Shidsa Zarei) and Paolo Pileri and his research group (Federica Bianchi, Nicola Petaccia, and Luca Pirolo).

The walk will occur along a pedestrian route used daily by students between Politecnico di Milano Leonardo Campus and Lambrate train station. Participants will include representatives from the Municipality of Milan (Paola Taglietti, Director Area Pianificazione e Programmazione Mobilità and Federico Confalonieri, Sustainable Mobility Unit), AMAT (Veronica Gaiani and Francesca Galimberti), the Politecnico di Milano (Eleonora Perotto, University Mobility Manager), and members of the Sustainable Mobility workshop.

The discussion will address topics such as obstacles, discontinuities, dangerous crossings, potential accidents, bumpy paths and inadequate dimensions, with the aim of fostering improvements in slow mobility as a component of urban sustainability.
