Universities for the sustainable development of Italy – June 11st-12nd, 2024

Universities for the sustainable development of Italy” is the topic of the conference to be held on Jyne 11st and 12nd, 2024 in Udine.
Organized by the University of Udine and RUS – Italian Network of Universities for Sustainable Development, under the patronage of CRUI – Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities, the conference aims to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Manifesto ‘Universities for Sustainability, Sustainability is in the University’ (signed on May 30, 2019 at the end of the Magnificent Meetings of CRUI).
The aim of th event is also to evaluate  the role and actions that Italian universities can play for the sustainable development of the country’s cities and territories. How to support the goal of urban decarbonisation? Among the other questions that will be considered how to pursue, in an integrated and systemic way, social equity and inter-generation, economic development and community well-being, together with the protection of the ecosystem.

The conference also aims to update the Manifesto and Implementation Plan of the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development.  RUS followed up the implementation of the Manifesto by launching a specific working table – the Capacity Building Technical Table – which recently produced a Report on the definition of guidelines, best practices and metrics to measure the success of universities’ social impact actions and initiatives. The Report refers to eight major themes: Climate Change, Food, Education, Energy, Inclusion and Social Justice, Mobility, Resources and Waste, and Universities for Industry.
