Science Knowledge and Sustainability – Salerno

On February 9, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m, the workshop “Science Knowledge and Sustainability” will be held at the University of Salerno.
The initiative aims to promote a multi-perspective and shared reflection on the contribution of Science to the co-creation of knowledge for sustainability.

The Workshop, organized by the University of Salerno (Working Group “Education for Sustainability”), Department of Pharmacy, in collaboration with IASS – Italian Association for Sustainability Science, has obtained the scientific sponsorship of the RUS – Network of Universities for Sustainable Development, and is mainly addressed to the different components of university (faculty, researchers and students, technical staff), from different disciplinary areas, engaged in the production of knowledge for sustainability.

Part I – 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The vision

Taking into account the three missions of the University (Teaching, Research and Third Mission), the first part of the proceedings will seek to highlight the main issues that hinder the production and fruition of inter- and transdisciplinary knowledge useful for addressing the practical complexity of sustainability.

Declined in the three missions, the discussion will address issues related to
– the production of knowledge useful for the realization of sustainability in an academic and university context of disciplinary organization of knowledge;
– the training of people with skills and competencies concretely useful for the realization of sustainability;
– the realization of a concretely synergistic collaboration among the main actors responsible for the outcomes of the desired transition to sustainability.

Part two | 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Experiences, interpretive keys and scenarios

The intent of the afternoon part of the proceedings is to experiment with a formula for promoting collaboration among different disciplines of knowledge, confronted with examples of real problems facing organizations geared toward achieving sustainability. The editors of the journals, who, in this edition of the workshop, primarily represent the social sciences field, will present Call for Papers and publication opportunities related to the workshop.
